(Summary description)No matter what is proposed in Made in China 2025 or the advancement of the integration of IT application with industrialization, it all indicates that China’s manufacturing industry is moving towards informatization and intelligentization. As a traditional manufacturing industry, how can the rubber additive industry keep up with the times? To realize the industrial upgrading and transformation is a new topic faced by the auxiliaries industry.

Development Status and Development Direction of Rubber Additive Industry

After more than ten years of rapid development, China’s rubber additive industry has undergone product structure adjustment, development and industrialization of cleaner production processes and a major increase in scale and intensification. At present, a complete industrial system composed of six categories and hundreds of varieties including vulcanizing agents, accelerators, antioxidants, processing aids and special functional auxiliaries and other additives has been formed. The output of auxiliaries at the end of the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” period reached 1.13 million tons, which exceeded 70% of the total production volume of rubber additive in the world and the Chinese rubber additive have played a decisive role in the world. China has entered the world industrial power rank both in terms of product output and technological progress of the rubber additive industry.

In 2014, the “Strategy of Strong Countries in the Rubber Industry” promulgated by the China Rubber Association put forward the “Measures for the Evaluation of the Modernization Level of the Chinese Rubber Industry” and used 13 specific indicators in terms of efficiency indicator, technological innovation indicator, international competition indicator, informatization indicator, and sustainability indicator five aspects to represent the strategic technical- economic indicators of powerful industrial countries. The Additives Association also counts the situation in the industry. It is reported that at present, the per capita annual sales of the rubber additive industry are only about 800,000 yuan. It is calculated that the modernization index is less than 50%, and the degree of information integration is also at a relatively low level, which is far from the goals mentioned in the strategy for strengthening the country. How to make China change from a big country to a strong country in terms of auxiliaries, automation, information, and intelligence will undoubtedly become powerful promoters.
